My name is DeQuira “DeDe” Parker (pronounced “Dee-Kira”). I just graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications & Media Studies from Arizona State University. In my blog posts, I will explore a wide range of topics that I’m interested in. This includes, sports, media, communications, and more. I will analyze different kinds of media and how the world uses them, focusing on my own experiences with media, and research I’ve done on others’ media usage. I will also look at how the media portrays certain topics, such as social issues. This includes the news, television, film, social media and more. I’m particularly interested in how race and gender are portrayed in popular culture. More specifically those who are part of minority and/or  oppressed groups. As for other topics, like sports, I want to share my thoughts on impactful stories from multiple facets of the sports world. As a recent graduate, I rely on my curiosity and drive to help me discover more about how we use and interact with media. And, this blog is a manifestation of my findings.
