In my very first blog post, I logged all of the media I use in a day. That post was almost three months ago, and while I enjoyed writing it, I wanted to give a more “3D” representation of my media use. So, I chose to create a vlog on the topic.

I think it also gave me a chance to show more of my personality as well, something that can sometimes be hard to get a grasp of over text.

Media usage is a topic I am very curious about, especially as it pertains to how everyone in the world uses it differently. After I filmed this video, I did some research and realized that the way I use media aligns with the fact that I am Gen Z. According to MSS Media,  “89% of Gen Z uses social media to discover new content related to their unique passions.” And, as you can see in the video, for me, this relates to my passion for sports.

In my vlog, I wanted to focus less on how I use media at work, as I feel that using media that we’re required to use at work doesn’t always represent our individuality as media users and creators. I focused more on how I use it in my own personal life, in a way of my own choosing.

I tend to be hyper-aware of everything I do, but doing this vlog made me realize that I utilize media platforms at a different rate than I thought.

Overall, I’m glad that I filmed this video because I was able to visualize how I spend my time through a “birds-eye” view.
