5 Pairs of Hoop Shoes You Need In Your Wardrobe

As someone who absolutely loves the game of basketball, but doesn’t actually play the game of basketball, I can only dream of replicating the effortlessly cool presence players have on and off the court. And while I may not be hitting step-backs or running plays, there is one thing I’ve incorporated into my everyday wardrobe that makes me feel tapped into that world.

And that’s basketball shoes.

Here are five of my favorite pairs of hoop shoes that will add a sporty touch to your personal style.

1. Nike Sabrina 2 Cave Purple “Court Vision”

These beauties are one of Sabrina Ionescu’s most popular releases, and for good reason. The unique shade of purple is so fun to work with when putting an outfit together. Personally, I’ve worn these with a black cropped tee paired with black cargo pants. A subtle outfit choice that allows the shoes to be the focal point.

2. Nike Book 1 “Forrest Gump”

Devin Booker’s first wave of releases almost look like casual sneakers, rather than basketball shoes. And that is exactly what makes them standout. These pair specifically are inspired by the classic red, white, and blue Nike Cortez sneakers worn in the iconic film Forrest Gump. These are the kind of shoes that I feel you could wear with almost any thing. A classic white tee and baggy jeans would do these shoes justice.

3. Nike A’One “Pink A’ura”

Who doesn’t love a hot pink shoe? A’ja Wilson recently released her first signature shoe with Nike in May and it has taken the world by storm. This shoe is inspired by Wilson’s bold, strong, and rare aura. This playful pink shoe is the perfect statement sneaker to add to your wardrobe. I would suggest wearing these with your favorite powerful pink outfit.

4. Converse SHAI 001 “Butter”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is not only one of the most stylish athletes, he is one of the most stylish people on the planet. Now, his signature shoe with Converse has not officially dropped yet, as they are set to release in Fall 2025. But when they do, I will be getting my hands on these as soon as I possibly can. These shoes have a nice streetwear feel, and I can definitely picture them being worn with some baggy sweatpants and a hoodie.

5. Nike Giannis Freak 6 “College Navy/White”

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s signature shoes are known for being both stylish and comfortable. These Freak 6’s offer a flattering silhouette, with a timeless navy blue color that I feel would pair well with a khaki-colored pleated skirt, a cropped button-up, and white slouch socks. Or, any prep-inspired outfit that would match the collegiate color way of the shoe.

Final Tips

Including your passion for sports into your everyday wardrobe does wonders for letting your personality shine through. So, if you want to level up your shoe game in a way only true sports fans can, I implore you to check out the basketball shoe section the next time you’re out shopping.
